Wyncote Caps Successful Season With MDL Championship.

After a hard fought regular season which saw Wyncote Golf Club finish with a 22-2 record and the regular season title, the slate was wiped clean for the 2010 Mason-Dixon League playoffs. In opening round action 2 of the higher seeds took care of business as 2nd seeded Maddogs dispatched the 7th seeded Black Sox in 2 games while 4th seeded Robinson's Furniture moved past the 5th seeded Shockers. In final first round match-up, 6th seeded Ridge-Valley took 2 games from the 3rd seed, On-Grade Excavation to earn a spot in the next round. In semi-final action Wyncote defeated Ridge-Valley in 2 games and Maddogs advanced past Robinson's Furniture in a tough 3 game series.

The MDL Championship featured a showdown between regular season champion Wyncote Golf Club and runner-up, Maddogs in a battle for off-season bragging rights. Both teams came prepared to give it their all and gave the fans in attendance several games of great softball action.

Game 1 was a classic pitchers duel between Maddogs' Matt Daughton and Wyncote's Drew Herb with Wyncote coming out on top 4-3. After allowing some sloppy Wyncote defense gave Maddogs an early 3-1 lead, Travis Work answered the call with a 2-run homerun to knot the game at 3 and swing the momentum in Wyncote's favor. An additional run the following inning proved all Wyncote would need to take a 1-0 lead in the best of 3 series.

Game 2 saw much more offense as both teams' bats came alive. Maddogs' pitcher Scott Gold allowed 2 key homeruns to Wyncote's Chris Neskie and another to Kevin Maitre before exiting in the 5th inning. Wyncote's pitcher, Tom Patterson also had his share of pitching issues as early control problems forced him to pitch from behind to several key Maddogs batters and they were able to keep pace with Wyncote through the first half of the game. Wyncote was able to score 2 runs off of Maddogs relief pitcher, Matt Daughton and Patterson settled down nicely to pitch clean 5th and 6th innings for Wyncote. After a leadoff single for Maddogs in the 7th, some slick defense from Wyncote's shortstop, Travis Work resulted in a quick double play then a pop-up to Patterson sealed the win and the 2010 Mason-Dixon League Championship for Wyncote Golf Club.
